A conference to promote the government’s action plan to implement the 13th-tenure Politburo’s Resolution No. 30-NQ/TW on orientations for socio-economic development and safeguarding defense and security in the Red River Delta to 2030 and vision to 2045 will be held in Quang Ninh province’s Ha Long city on February 12, under the chair of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, according to an announcement from Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Duy Dong at a press conference on February 9.

Investment promotion programs will also be held at the conference, calling on local and foreign investors to invest in socio-economic development projects in the northern delta.

It is expected that some 20 ODA projects worth of over $2 billion will be signed with ODA donors and four investment decisions will be announced, while 18 investment licenses will be handed over to investors on this occasion.

The master plan for socio-economic development of Quang Ninh province in the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2050 and the overall plan for development of Ha Long city to 2040 will also be announced at the conference.

During the 15 years of implementing Politburo Resolution No. 54-NQ/TW, from 2005 to 2020, the Red River Delta posted average annual economic growth of 7.94 per cent, higher than the national average during the period. By 2020 its gross regional domestic product (GRDP) had increased 7.75-fold compared to 2005 and accounted for 29.4 per cent of national GDP. Meanwhile, FDI capital pouring into the region accounted for 31.4 per cent of the country’s total by 2020.
