Construction of the third passenger terminal at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City kicked off on December 24.
Attending the breaking-ground ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said transport infrastructure development, including freight transport infrastructure, is one of three strategic breakthroughs for the country’s sustainable socioeconomic development.
The project will contribute to promoting socioeconomic development and ensuring security and defense in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern region.
It is being implemented by Airports Corporation of Vietnam at a cost of nearly VND11 trillion ($463 million).
Construction is expected to take 37 months.
The T3 terminal is designed to handle domestic flights and welcome up to 20 million passengers annually.
