Construction of Quang Tri airport in the central province of the same name is expected to start in July following a direction from the provincial authorities.
Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Duc Tien has requested relevant agencies to accelerate site clearance to hand over land for the investor before June 20.
The airport project covers a total area of more than 265 ha in Gio Linh district, with investment capital estimated at more than VND5.8 trillion (nearly $227 million).
Quang Tri Airport will be a Level 4C one, according to the classifications of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and can cater to Code E aircraft, serve 5 million passengers and handle 25,500 tons of cargo annually.
The project is expected to be completed after two years of construction.
