Corporate bond transactions down by half in January

Over $148.3mln worth of corporate bonds traded per session in the opening month of the year.

Corporate bond transactions in January fell nearly 54 per cent year-on-year, reaching VND3.5 trillion ($148.3 million) per session, according to the Ministry of Finance.

There have been no corporate bond issuances this year as of January 31, while over VND29.2 trillion ($1.23 billion) were issued in the same period of 2022, including seven public offerings and 16 private offerings.

The volume of corporate bonds maturing in 2023 is estimated at VNĐ285 trillion ($12 billion).

In January alone, the total volume of corporate bonds maturing was over VND17 trillion ($720 million), primarily in real estate and construction.
