The People's Committee of central Da Nang city has approved an investment policy to expand and renovate Terminal 1 (T1) at Da Nang International Airport, aiming to significantly increase the airport's passenger handling capacity to meet growing travel demand.
The project will raise the terminal's annual capacity from the current 4–6 million passengers to 14 million.
The project carries a total investment of more than VND11.28 trillion (approximately $430 million).
According to the approved plan, the project will cover more than 165,000 square metres and is expected to be implemented over 41 months.
Construction is scheduled to begin in August 2027. The terminal expansion will take approximately 18 months and is expected to be completed and put into operation by January 2029. Renovation of the existing terminal will then continue for seven months, with full completion targeted for August 2029.
The expansion is expected to become one of Da Nang's most significant infrastructure projects over the next decade, strengthening the city's position as a major aviation gateway and supporting continued growth in tourism, trade and investment in central Vietnam.
