Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has asked relevant ministries, agencies and sectors to review and simplify processes and procedures for implementing social housing projects, while chairing a national conference held on May 27 to discuss a draft decree on social housing development and management, the Government News has reported.
He instructed the Ministry of Construction (MoC) to coordinate with the Ministry of Finance and the State Bank of Vietnam to study and build a mechanism for mobilizing and using resources for social housing development in a consistent manner.
Relevant ministries and agencies were also required to simplify the criteria for identifying beneficiaries of social housing, along with the conditions for renting and buying this type of housing; and encourage private businesses to invest in social housing.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the draft decree should have regulations relating to planning and allocation of land fund for social housing projects.
The draft decree inherits the current regulations that are still implemented effectively while institutionalising new and breakthrough policies to address recent obstacles to social housing development, according to the MoC.
