Businesses using digital transformation platforms up 20-fold

The Ministry of Information and Communications has said that the number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) accessing and using the digital transformation support program SMEdx is on the rise. More than 490,000 SMEs have approached “Make in Vietnam” digital platforms selected by the program. As of September, the number of businesses using such platforms stood at more than 62,000, an increase of 20-fold compared to March.

Schedule for ending 2G on track

The Ministry of Information and Communications has said that Vietnam has over 126 million mobile phone subscribers, an increase of 2.6 million compared to the same period last year, of which 93.7 million use smartphones. The number with feature phones stands at over 26 million but is falling every month, in line with the policy of turning off 2G in some areas by 2023 and shutting it down nationwide in September 2024.

Thanh Hoa making progress in digital transformation

North-central Thanh Hoa province saw positive results in its digital transformation process in the first nine months of 2022. Its public service portal and electronic one-stop system provide 149 level-3 public services and 725 level-4 public services, while it has integrated 863 level-3 and level-4 public services into the National Public Service Portal. All government agencies in Thanh Hoa are using electronic authentication services.

The Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM) has said that the operation of e-commerce platforms remains quite difficult and requires major investment and high operating costs, with most posting losses. It therefore proposed to the General Department of Taxation and State management agencies that cost and compliance burdens be minimized and conditions created for the development of e-commerce platforms.

Tax sector increasing revenue by promoting digital services

The General Department of Taxation has said that the tax sector has promoted the development of digital tax services for taxpayers and seen impressive results. The number of enterprises registering with tax authorities to use digital tax services this year as of September 15 was 861,710, or 99 per cent. Businesses paid taxes through more than 2.75 million digital transactions totaling over VND585.6 trillion ($24.36 billion) and nearly $49 million.
