Digital technology is helping control transparency in the food and beverage (F&B) market, experts told a seminar on November 9 in Hanoi held as part of the International Vietfood & Beverage - Propack Exhibition.
Experts agreed that in order to gain consumer trust about safe and quality F&B products, transparency in production and sale is sought by State management agencies, consumers, and businesses.
Previously, to prove that they are producing safe or organic food or food that meets Vietnamese standards of those of an importing country, authorities both here and overseas required that enterprises submit a great deal of paperwork that could be difficult to locate at a later date.
Thanks to digital technology, all processes are now recorded on a software system that can be easily accessed by computer and mobile phone. Digital technology has helped businesses implement product traceability throughout the supply chain, from the farm to the consumer.
Running until November 12, Vietfood & Beverage - Propack is a reputable exhibition in the field of F&B and processing and packaging equipment and technologies. It is being jointly held by the Vietnam National Trade Fair and Advertising Company (Vinexad), the Vietnam Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Association (VBA), and the Food and Foodstuff Association of Ho Chi Minh City.
Covering 4,500 sq m, the exhibition features 300 booths of 250 businesses from various countries. It gathers together prestigious firms in the food industry, along with famous international brands such as Choya from Japan, Obsortech from Switzerland, and India Frozen Foods, Rustam Foods, and Al-sameer from India.
Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Mr. Nguyen Khac Luan, Director General of Vinexad, said the exhibition will offer the chance for domestic and foreign firms to access markets, promote products, and strengthen their brands. “It is also hoped to help businesses explore market demand and design development strategies,” he added.
