Vietnam’s export performance recovered in the second half of May with many key products posting high growth, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

Total export revenue during the period stood at $16.43 billion, an increase of 43.4 per cent compared to the first half of May.

Products posting high growth included electronics and components, up 38.1 per cent, machinery, equipment, and tools 48.4 per cent, garments and textiles 46.7 per cent, and telephones and components 44.3 per cent.

In particular, the export of fruit and vegetables reached $422 million, a 1.8-fold increase against the first half of May and mainly attributed to durian shipments.

The export value FDI businesses amounted to $11.63 billion, up 43.7 per cent compared to the first half of May.

Total trade revenue in the second half of May was $29.81 billion, a 24.7 per cent surge compared to the first half of the month.

In the first five months total trade value reached $260.79 billion, down 15.3 per cent year-on-year.
