First 600,000 train passes to be issued for metro line in HCM City

The first metro line of the city ready for commercial operations.

Some 600,000 train passes will be initially issued for passengers of metro line No. 1 in Ho Chi Minh City as part of its early stages of commercial operations, according to the city’s Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR).

The metro runs 19.7 km from Ben Thanh Market in District 1 to Suoi Tien Theme Park in Thu Duc City, including 2.6 km of underground railways and 17.1 km of elevated railways.

.MAUR is coordinating with contractor and relevant agencies to carry out the installation, testing, and training related to the operation and maintenance of an Automated Fare Collection (AFC) system for the metro line.

The AFC system is expected to distribute approximately five million IC cards, which will be available in three main types, including single-stop tickets, day passes valid for one or three days, and rechargeable, prepaid cards.
