The Business Matching and Ho Chi Minh City Products Week 2024, focused on food and beverages, commenced on December 11, reported the Vietnam News Agency.
The event, co-organized by the Investment and Trade Promotion Centre of Ho Chi Minh City (ITPC) and the Food and Foodstuff Association of the southern city (FFA), brought together nearly 100 enterprises showcasing a diverse range of products, including consumer goods, dried foods, seafood, confectionery, beverages, and processed agricultural products.
Ms. Ly Kim Chi, President of the FFA, emphasized the significant strides made by the food industry in enhancing product quality, adopting advanced technologies, and prioritizing sustainable production.
She noted that while global market conditions are challenging, emerging trends such as green food, alternative products, and stringent traceability standards offer promising opportunities for Vietnam's food industry.
Mr. Tran Phu Lu, Director of the ITPC, highlighted the pivotal role of the food industry in Ho Chi Minh City's economy, contributing approximately 14-15% of its total industrial output.
The event, which runs until December 17, offers a platform for businesses to connect with domestic and international partners through product displays, workshops, and business matching sessions.
