Over 984,000 international tourists visited Vietnam in April, a 9.7-fold increase year-on-year, figures from the General Statistics Office (GSO) show.

The April figure brought the total number of foreign tourists in the first four months to nearly 3.7 million, a 19.2-fold increase year-on-year.

South Korea remained the largest source market, with 1 million visitors, followed by the US with 263,000 and China with 252,000.

Vietnam targets catering to 110 million tourists this year, including 8 million foreign visitors. Total revenue is expected to reach VND650 trillion ($27.4 billion).

Deputy Director-General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Ha Van Sieu said that with the current growth in tourist numbers and the holding of tourism promotional programs and cultural and tourism events, Vietnam is expected to attract 10 million international visitors this year.
