The government has submitted a proposal to the National Assembly (NA) to extend the duration of stays for foreigners who enter Vietnam on e-visas from the current 30 days to a maximum of 90 days, to boost tourism recovery.
It also proposed the legislature extend visa-free stays from 15 days to 45 days for tourists from countries with which Vietnam unilaterally waives visas.
The government said stays of up to 45 days would allow foreign visitors to take tours or seek business and investment opportunities, contributing to promoting socio-economic development.
The new measures will not lead to any increase in procedures or resources from the State while helping cut costs for agencies, organizations, and individuals implementing immigration procedures for foreigners, according to the government.
Vietnam currently offers a one-month, single-entry e-visa to visitors from 80 countries and territories.
