Standing Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh signed Prime Ministerial Decision No. 75/QD-TTg on January 11, approving a plan for the implementation of the Data Law (the plan).
The Data Law (the Law), passed by the 15th National Assembly during its 8th session on November 30, 2024, will take effect on July 1, 2025.
The plan outlines necessary steps, timelines, and responsibilities to be taken by relevant agencies and organizations to ensure the effective implementation of the Law. It also aims to establish a robust coordination mechanism among ministries, ministerial-level agencies, Government bodies, and People's Committees across provinces and centrally-run cities nationwide.
An integral part of the plan is to raise awareness about the Law and emphasize the responsibilities of various levels, sectors, and localities in its execution.
A key component of the plan is the thorough review of existing legal documents related to the Law. This review, carried out within the scope of State management authority, will identify needed amendments, supplements, replacements, or abolitions (if any) of such legal documents, ensuring alignment with the Law and its associated legal documents. These changes will be enacted promptly either by the responsible entities or through recommendations to the competent authorities.
The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) has been entrusted with reviewing legal documents within its jurisdiction. Other ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities will similarly review documents within their respective domains.
By June 28, 2025, these ministries, agencies, and People's Committees are required to submit their review results to the MPS. Subsequently, the MPS will compile these results and present a comprehensive report to the Prime Minister by July 31, 2025.
