Hai Phong City is planning and designating 42 locations, covering nearly 500ha, to implement social housing projects.
As part of the Government’s initiative to build one million social housing units for low-income earners and workers at industrial parks for the 2021-2030 period, Hai Phong has been tasked with constructing 33,500 units by 2030.
Since 2022, the northern city has been working on nine projects, totalling 15,000 social housing units.
Additionally, 21 projects have received investment approval or are scheduled to start soon, with a total scale of 20,400 units.
According to the President of the Vietnam Association of Realtors, Dr. Nguyen Van Dinh, it is essential to highlight the successful development of social housing in Hai Phong as a model for other localities. He emphasized the importance of understanding why some localities succeed while others do not, despite having the same regulations and procedures, to improve the effectiveness of the Government’s plan on building at least one million social housing units for the 2021-2030 period.
Forecasting the supply of social housing in the near future nationwide, he said it is likely to improve from the early months of 2025 and the end of 2026, estimating that over 200,000 units will be completed.
