Northern Hai Phong port city posted a GRDP growth of 10.32% year-on-year in the first six months of the year, according the city’s Statistics Office.
As a result, Hai Phong ranks fifth among Vietnam's 63 centrally-run localities and second in the Red River Delta region.
During the six-month period, the city attracted over $1.1 billion of investment capital.
The city has so far had 970 valid projects with a total investment capital of $30.47 billion, including 561 projects operating at industrial and economic zones.
Ports in the city handled 77.5 million tons of cargo in the period, up 11.64% year-on-year.
Some 4.27 million tourists visited the city in the first half of the year, surging 16.25% compared to the same period last year, including 502,600 foreign tourists.
