Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said Vietnam will facilitate Bolt's entry into the Vietnamese market, similar to many other global ride-hailing and delivery startups already operating in Vietnam.
The Prime Minister made this statement during a meeting with Mr. Jevgeni Kabanov, President of Bolt, an Estonia-based European super-app, as part of his official visit to Estonia from June 5 to 7.
Bolt currently operates in approximately 55 countries globally, serving around 200 million customers. In Asia, Bolt launched operations in Thailand in 2021 and has created jobs for over 50,000 drivers.
Bolt's services include ride-hailing for cars, scooters, and motorbikes, as well as food and parcel delivery services. Bolt is currently seeking to expand its business into Vietnam and has requested expedited licensing from relevant authorities.
PM Chinh commended Bolt's business performance and its efforts in promoting digital transformation in transportation and logistics, as well as fostering the sharing economy.
He noted that this is a highly potential sector in Vietnam, with a population of over 100 million and growing demand driven by the rapid development of e-commerce. Vietnam aims for GDP growth of 8% or higher in 2025 and double-digit growth from 2026-2030, requiring businesses to grow accordingly.
The Prime Minister expressed his hope that Bolt will engage in healthy competition, create jobs, benefit the people, and implement its operations progressively, starting from major cities and gradually expanding to other areas, including rural regions. He also encouraged Bolt to explore investments and develop new business areas and models.
Thus, if Bolt enters Vietnam, it will become the company's third market in Southeast Asia, after Thailand and Malaysia.
