Northern Hai Phong city has retrieved 455 ha of land previously allocated to 31 projects and reviewed hundreds of others exhibiting signs of land law violations.
A 9,000 sq m land lot on the corner of Le Hong Phong and Nguyen Binh Khiem streets was leased to the Duy Hung Trading and Services Co., Ltd. in 2008 to build a trade center and luxury hotel.
However, due to delays and incompletion, in September 2018, the city’s Department of Planning and Investment decided to suspend the project.
After that, the project was given another 24 months of land use, but implementation remained at a standstill. In 2021, the city’s People’s Committee decided to retrieve the land.
This is among the projects that need to be withdrawn in accordance with Resolution No. 06 from the city People’s Council, promulgated in 2016, on duties and solutions to withdraw land lots that have been assigned or leased to wrong or unqualified parties or that haven’t been used or have been improperly used, causing losses to local land resources.
According to the Department of Planning and Investment, the city has re-allocated 18.84 ha out of the 455 ha of land retrieved from 31 projects to new investors, and collected over VND2 trillion ($81.8 million) worth of land use and land lease fees.
