Northern Hai Phong port city is seeking investors to study and develop a 46.55-km road connecting its Lach Huyen international gateway port with Gia Binh Airport in the neighboring city of Bac Ninh.
Preliminary investment is estimated at more than VND43.74 trillion (approximately $1.7 billion), according to the city’s People’s Committee.
The project is expected to be implemented under a public-private partnership (PPP), potentially through a build-operate-transfer (BOT) or build-transfer (BT) contract.
Under the preliminary plan, 44.8km of the route would run through Hai Phong, and 0.75km through Bac Ninh city, with approximately 1km comprising a bridge over the Thai Binh River. The route would begin at the intersection of Ring Road 3 and National Highway 10 in Luu Kiem Ward, Hai Phong, and end at the eastern interchange of Gia Binh Airport in Trung Kenh Commune, Bac Ninh.
The road is intended to establish a regional transport corridor linking the seaport and airport, expanding opportunities for logistics, industrial development and urban growth. It is also expected to support Hai Phong’s target of average annual gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth of at least 13% in 2026–2030.
