Hanoi has attracted more than 4,500 FDI projects with total registered investment capital of over $33 billion in the 15 years since it extended its administrative boundaries, figures from the city’s Statistics Office show.

Foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs) have contributed over 10 per cent of the city’s State budget collections, employed 11 per cent of its workforce, and funded 11 per cent of social development investment.

During the 2011-2022 period, its GRDP saw annual average growth of 6.67 per cent, of which services increased 6.77 per cent, industry and construction 8.19 per cent, and agriculture 2.87 per cent.

Its tourism sector also posted handy growth. Hanoi has been ranked among the top 10 cities with the fastest tourism growth in the world and 15th among the 25 most-popular tourism destinations worldwide.

It attracted 18.7 million tourists last year, including 1.5 million foreign visitors.

In the first half of this year it welcomed 12.33 million tourists, up 42 per cent year-on-year. The figure is expected at 22 million for the year as a whole.

Total import and export revenue hit over $58 billion in 2022, a 1.93-fold increase compared to 2008, when the city extended its administrative boundaries.
