Hanoi last year approved recruitment demand for foreign workers from over 11,100 organizations and businesses with 14,024 positions.
The majority of positions require high-quality workers including managers, experts, and technicians.
There were a total of 136,800 foreigners working in Vietnam as of the end of 2023.
The government issued a decree in December amending and supplementing a number of articles in its Decree No. 152 from 2020, stipulating regulations for foreigners working in Vietnam and foreign individuals’ and organizations’ recruitment and management of Vietnamese nationals in the country.
Under the new decree, at least 15 days before the starting date of a foreign worker’s employment, an employer (except for contractors) must submit a report to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) or the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs in the locality involved, clarifying that occupational requirements are yet to be met by Vietnamese workers.
