Hanoi has approved the development of a plan to invest in urban railway system, with the aim of having over 600 km of rail by 2045.
Under the projected plan, the city targets to complete the construction of 96.8 km of urban railway lines with an estimated investment capital of $14.6 billion in the 2024 - 2030 period.
The urban railway system is expected to handle 35-40% of public transportation demand by 2030.
In the 2031-2035 period, the city plans to build 301 km more, which demand an investment capital of over $22.57 billion.
In the 2036-2045 period, the city will focus on completing an additional 200.7 km, with total investment capital estimated at $18.252 billion.
Regarding capital mobilization, Hanoi is expected to mobilize over $28.56 billion by 2035. The city will require approximately $8.6 billion in Government support for metro line construction in the period between 2026 and 2035.
