Ho Chi Minh City expects to welcome 5 million international tourists this year, a 44.3 per cent increase year-on-year, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.
As of October, the city had welcomed more than 4.1 million foreign visitors, accounting for 82 per cent of the plan for the year.
The number of domestic travelers visiting the city this year is estimated at 35 million.
Total tourism revenue is expected to hit VND160 trillion ($6.66 billion).
The city targets welcoming 6 million foreign visitors next year, who will spend around VND190 trillion ($7.8 billion).
In order to fulfill the target, the city will diversify its tourism products, cooperate with other localities in tourism development, and step up tourism promotions in foreign markets, according to the Department.
