The total export turnover of Ho Chi Minh City-based enterprises rose 5.1 per cent to $47.18 billion in 2022, according to the municipal Department of Industry and Trade.
Its industry and trade sector posted strong recovery last year, with the Index of Industrial Production up 13.9 per cent and total retail sales of goods and services rising 30.5 per cent to nearly VND1.09 quadrillion ($46.5 billion), the Department reported to a recent meeting held to review industrial production and trade in 2022 and set tasks for this year.
Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan said the southern city saw rapid socio-economic recovery last year, with growth of over 9 per cent.
It has set a target this year of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth of 7.5-8 per cent.
Mr. Hoan urged the Department to focus on efficiently implementing the investment stimulus policy for the industrial sector and supporting industries, to continue to foster trade cooperation with other cities and provinces to help enterprises expand their consumption markets, and to ensure goods supply and demand and stable prices in 2023.
