HCMC posts e-commerce revenue of $11bln in 2023

Southern city leads the country in online trade value.

Ho Chi Minh City’s e-commerce revenue reached nearly $11 billion in 2023, according to the municipal Department of Industry and Trade.

Revenue from online purchases stood at $6.2 billion, the highest in Vietnam and 29 per cent of the country’s total.

E-commerce trade value was estimated at $4.7 billion, accounting for 23 per cent of the country’s total.

Vietnam’s e-commerce revenue reached $20.5 billion in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 25 per cent.

The Department has signed a cooperative agreement with the municipal Department of Information and Communications to boost the development of communications, digital transformation, and e-commerce in the digital era.

The two departments will hold training courses and workshops and increase information dissemination to raise awareness among individuals and enterprises about e-commerce activities, especially safety and security measures when conducting online transactions.
