Chinese tech giant Huawei will consider to establish a data center in Vietnam, according to Solution Director of Huawei Vietnam Dao Quang Vinh.

Huawei has built data centers in many other countries in Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Vietnam may be the next Southeast Asian country where Huawei will establish a data center, he told the press on the sidelines of the recent New Horizon Business Summit 2024.

Vietnam's cloud computing market has much potential and records a strong annual growth, he said. The digitalization process is undergoing rapidly in Vietnam. The demand for cloud computing services has increased from not only end-users but also major information technology groups. Many enterprises have invested in data center infrastructure in Vietnam such as VNPT, Viettel and MobiFone.

He forecasted that the cloud computing market of Vietnam will boom from different aspects such as public cloud or on premise services.

The country's cloud computing market is on the process of development and proves attractive to investors, he said. Not only Huawei but many other companies have long-term plan to build data centers in Vietnam.

It has been estimated that Vietnam’s data center market value will reach $1.6 billion by 2030, posting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 11%.
