Authorities of central Hue City have proposed the development of an integrated “Energy–Industry–Trade” center at the city's Chan May–Lang Co Economic Zone, seeking support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade as part of its strategy to accelerate economic growth and industrial development.
The proposal was presented during a meeting in Hanoi on June 8 between the city and the ministry .
At the meeting, city leaders outlined recent developments in the industry and trade sectors and requested the ministry's support in addressing regulatory and administrative challenges. The city aims to maintain annual GRDP growth of more than 10% during the 2026–2030 period.
Among its key proposals, Hue called for support in establishing the integrated Energy–Industry–Trade Center at the city's Chan May–Lang Co Economic Zone, a strategic coastal development area in central Vietnam. The city also sought assistance in developing a regional industrial support center for central Vietnam, attracting strategic investors, expanding e-commerce initiatives and implementing duty-free retail and outlet store models.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long, for his part, encouraged Hue to develop detailed and highly feasible project proposals while actively pursuing strategic investors to realize the Energy–Industry–Trade Center initiative.
He said the ministry would coordinate with relevant agencies to study and propose special policy mechanisms to support the development of a nationally significant energy and industrial hub in central Vietnam, centered on the Chan May–Lang Co Economic Zone.
