Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone to become a trading hub
The Ministry of Construction has held a conference to appraise the task of general planning for building the Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone in southern Tay Ninh province to 2050, under which it will become a trading hub. This is within planning to develop the Moc Bai - Ho Chi Minh City - Cai Mep - Thi Vai Port urban industrial chain in association with the Trans-Asian Economic Corridor.
Binh Thuan proposes addition of local power projects to National Power Plan
South-central Binh Thuan province boasts many favorable conditions for electricity and renewable energy projects, especially offshore wind power and liquefied natural gas (LNG) power. To exploit its advantages and potential, the province has proposed adding 14 onshore and eight offshore wind power projects, 62 solar power projects, the Ke Ga Cape LNG gas power project, and a stored hydroelectric power project to the National Power Plan, to create a breakthrough and provide motivation in renewable and gas energy.
Long An to build 2 new industrial parks
Two new industrial parks in the Mekong Delta’s Long An province have been approved by Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh, on a total area of nearly 720 ha and with total investment of nearly VND8.3 trillion ($360.91 million). They are expected to help the province increase its competitiveness and attract FDI. Long An currently has 28 industrial parks and 32 industrial clusters.
Dong Hoi may become international airport
The Ministry of Transport will propose that the Prime Minister consider converting central Quang Binh province’s Dong Hoi Airport into an international airport when it shows it can welcome 3-5 regular international flights a week. It currently hosts three domestic routes and one regular international flight, to and from Chiang Mai in Thailand.
Power in railway infrastructure projects may be decentralized
The budget for railway infrastructure investment in the 2021-2025 period meets just 5.8 per cent of needs. The Vietnam Railways Department has therefore proposed decentralizing power to 26 local People’s Committees regarding site clearance compensation, calling for investment, and exploiting land at train stations.
Tay Ninh to build Go Dau - Xa Mat Expressway
Southern Tay Ninh province has been assigned to build the first phase of the Go Dau - Xa Mat Expressway, which stretches nearly 28 km and has total investment of nearly VND5.2 trillion ($227.18 million), before 2030. The route, from the north to the south of the province, will connect with the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway, which runs to Vietnam’s border with Cambodia.
