According to the Ministry of Transport, the 188-km long Chau Doc- Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway, passing through the four Mekong Delta cities and provinces of An Giang, Can Tho, Hau Giang, and Soc Trang and with investment of over VND52 trillion ($2.3 billion), will be submitted to the National Assembly for approval next May.

Twelve component projects of the Eastern North-South Expressway have been proposed for implementation in the 2021-2025 period entirely under the public investment form, with total capital of VND147 trillion ($6.5 billion) from the State. With a payback period of ten years, it is expected that VND37.88 trillion ($1.67 billion) will have been collected for the State budget.

Three traffic projects passing through the Mekong Delta’s Dong Thap province have been prioritized by the Ministry of Transport (MoT) for receiving capital in the medium-term public investment plan for the 2021-2025 period: the Cao Lanh - An Huu Highway, National Highway No. 30, and the My An - Cao Lanh Highway, with total capital of about VND7.75 trillion ($343.28 million).

The Mekong Delta regularly faces drought and major saline intrusion. The Cai Lon - Cai Be saltwater prevention sluice project, with investment of VND3.3 trillion ($146 million), would be the largest in the region and is expected to be completed by the end of November, controlling and regulating water sources on 384,000 ha in Kien Giang, Hau Giang, Ca Mau, and Bac Lieu provinces.

Project Management Board 6 has sought the National Assembly (NA)’s consideration and decision on investment in the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Highway. The route is 118 km in length and has estimated investment of over VND17 trillion ($752.99 million) from the State budget, and will connect two political and socio-economic centers in the south-central region and central highlands.

The Covid-19 pandemic has certainly caused industrial real estate to wobble at times, but with support coming from the government the market holds a great deal of potential. Vietnam is also aiming to increase clean technology and low carbon production, so will establish many eco-industrial parks in the future.
