The Itochu Corporation from Japan has revealed a plan to plant a timber forest and build a wood pellet production factory in south-central Binh Dinh province.
CEO for Asia and Oceania Tanaka Kenji told Chairman of the Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee, Pham Anh Tuan, of the plans at their meeting on June 13.
Mr. Kenji led a delegation from the corporation to Binh Dinh to learn of the province’s investment environment.
He proposed provincial authorities create conditions for the group to get the project underway.
Chairman Tuan spoke highly of the corporation’s investment plan and said Binh Dinh welcomes foreign investors and businesses, particularly those from Japan.
Itochu currently imports 500,000 tons of wood pellets from Vietnam, including 300,000 tons from Binh Dinh.
