Vietnam posted a trade surplus of $3.6 billion in January, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
The figure is down 17.3 per cent compared to December and 25 per cent year-on-year.
In January, the country earned total export revenue of $25.08 billion, down 13.6 per cent against December.
Seven products earned export turnover of more than $1 billion in the month, including electronics, textiles and garments, footwear, and wood and wooden products.
Import revenue, meanwhile, stood at $21.48 billion.
The US continued to be Vietnam’s biggest export market, with total export revenue estimated at $7.6 billion, while China was the biggest source of imports, with total import turnover of $8.1 billion.
