Keppel Group, one of Singapore’s leading conglomerates, is planning to scale up its investments in real estate and green technology in Ho Chi Minh City. This move is part of the group’s broader strategy to prioritize sustainable development and high-tech applications within the Vietnamese market.
In a recent meeting with the Chairman of the City People’s Committee, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, CEO of Keppel’s Real Estate Division, Mr. Louis Lim, said that to date, the Group has invested approximately $4 billion in Vietnam, primarily focusing on high-quality real estate projects designed to meet smart and sustainable standards.
Keppel is currently moving forward with several major projects in HCM City, including Saigon Centre and Saigon Sports City. The group expressed its desire to expedite the progress of these developments while exploring new expansion opportunities.
Beyond real estate, Keppel is diversifying into the development of data center systems to serve the growing demand for cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and digital services. This strategic direction aims to assist businesses in enhancing their productivity and regional competitiveness.
According to Deputy Director of the City Department of Science and Technology, Mr. Nguyen Huu Yen, HCM City is positioning itself to become a leading regional hub for innovation, technology, and the digital economy. Accordingly, the city encouraged Keppel to research and invest in next-generation data centers and to collaborate with local tech firms to pilot new business models.
Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc emphasized that HCM City is entering a new phase of growth, striving to become a Southeast Asian hub for economics, finance, science, and innovation. The city is prioritizing a shift in its growth model toward a green and digital economy, alongside smart and sustainable urban development.
Mr. Duoc affirmed that the city would create favorable conditions for Keppel to implement projects that align with the development goals of both Vietnam and HCM City.
