An estimated 33,800 flights will be conducted during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday from January 25 to February 24, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).
The figure represents an increase of 14 per cent compared to Tet in 2023.
Domestic flights will total 24,200, a year-on-year increase of 2 per cent, and international flights 9,600, up 60 per cent.
Most added flights will connect Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi with Da Nang, Hai Phong, Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Hue, Da Lat, Can Tho, Nha Trang, Phu Yen, and Phu Quoc Island.
Over 5,000 flights will connect Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, accounting for 21 per cent of the total.
Earlier, the CAAV asked airlines to prepare plans for holiday travel, including night flights, and asked them to take action to minimize flight delays and cancellations and intensify control to ensure aviation safety.
