Electronic components maker the Radiant Opto-Electronics Corporation from Taiwan (China) received an investment certificate on December 21 to pour $120 million into building a factory at the VSIP Nghe An Industrial Park in the north-central province of Nghe An.

The project will manufacture electronic components such as back light units (BLU), light guide plates (LGP), and brightness enhancement film (BEF), with an annual capacity of 35 million items a year in the first phase and 10 million more in the second phase.

The corporation also plans to put 4.5 ha of factory space up for lease and to set aside accommodation for workers and experts at VSIP Nghe An on 1.4 ha.

With this latest investment, Nghe An has attracted FDI totaling $1.58 billion this year as of December 20; the ninth-highest figure in the country.

Radiant Opto-Electronics, a partner of major tech firms such as Apple, Foxconn, and LG, considers Nghe An in particular and Vietnam in general as an investment destination for sustainable and long-term operations over the next 30 years, its Chairman Justin Wang told provincial authorities last month.
