November retail sales of goods and services rise 17.5%

The total retail sales of consumer goods and services in November has been estimated at VND514.1 trillion ($21 billion), a 2.6 per cent increase against October and up 17.5 per cent over the same period last year.

The eleven-month figure is estimated at VND5,180 trillion ($210 billion), up 20.5 per cent year-on-year.

Total sales of consumer goods were estimated at VND4,079 trillion ($165 billion), accommodation and catering services VND536.3 trillion ($21.7 billion), and travel and tourism services VND22.9 trillion ($930 million), increases of 14.8 per cent, 56.5 per cent, and 4.1 per cent, respectively, year-on-year.

According to the General Statistics Office, the total retail sales of consumer goods and services in the first eleven months of 2022 rose 14.9 per cent compared to the same period of 2019; the year prior to the Covid-19 outbreak.

However, it also noted that total retail sales of consumer goods and services in the first eleven months reached just 82.5 per cent of the target for normal conditions with no COVID-19.

Some localities saw remarkable increases in retail sales of consumer goods and services in 11 months of 2022 compared to the same period last year, including Da Nang (867.1 per cent), Can Tho (647.3 per cent), Hanoi (322.8 per cent), Hai Phong (261.3 per cent), Ho Chi Minh City (191.6 per cent), and Quang Ninh (52.1 per cent).
