Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park in central Quang Binh province will be developed into a national tourism center of international standard under a master plan on its development in the 2021-2030 period.

The plan was approved by the Provincial People’s Committee on January 24.

It aims to exploit the province’s potential and advantages in natural resources, biodiversity, and cave networks, while improving the economic efficiency of forests, generating jobs, and raising local incomes.

Eco-tourism sites will also be built to attract investment in developing tourism in the national park.

The total funding needed to implement the plan is estimated at over VND1.253 trillion ($52.2 million).

Tourist numbers to the park are expected to increase by 12.5 per cent annually in 2024-2025 and reach 1.5 million by 2025 and then 3 million by 2030.

Tourism revenue is to hit VND500 billion ($20.8 million) by 2025 and VND1.5 trillion ($62.5 million) by 2030.
