Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has called for decisions from ministries, sectors, and localities on building two strategic expressways connecting the northern provinces of Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, and Thai Binh and linking the central highlands’ Dak Nong province with southern Binh Phuoc province.
The Ninh Binh - Nam Dinh - Thai Binh Expressway has a total length of 88 km, while the Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway is 128.8-km long. Design of the two projects is now underway.
Speaking at a meeting on March 12 to discuss investment plans, Prime Minister Chinh emphasized the necessity of building the two expressways, which have strategic and important positions in creating development drivers for the Red River Delta and the southern region, among others, especially Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, and Binh Phuoc provinces. These localities all possess substantial potential and advantages but face many difficulties due to limited transport infrastructure, he said.
The government will set up working groups for the projects, he added.
The Prime Minster asked consulting units and contractors to work carefully and with the highest sense of responsibility, ensuring that the expressways are completed at a reasonable cost.
He also asked localities to quickly prepare construction material mines and hand them over to investors and contractors. The People’s Councils of the provinces involved are required to approve planning schemes on land to set aside space for the projects.
The projects should be built under the public-private partnership (PPP) form, Prime Minister Chinh said.
