Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh examined construction of the East-West road project in northern Ninh Binh province on July 27.

Construction of the first 23-km section is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. It will have four lanes and a speed limit of 80km/h.

The road connects important traffic axes, including the eastern North-South Expressway, the Ho Chi Minh Highway, National Highway No. 1A, the coastal road from Quang Ninh to Thanh Hoa, and the North-South railway line.

Once fully operational, the link is expected to create breakthroughs in socio-economic development in the province.

Prime Minister Chinh said the East-West road is important for Ninh Binh to develop services, industry, and science and technology and will open new development space for the province.

The project was approved in 2021 with total investment of over VND1.48 trillion ($62 million).
