PM issues action plan for digital transformation committee

Digital economy expected to contribute 16 per cent of GDP.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed a decision issuing an action plan for the National Committee on Digital Transformation in 2023.

The committee will guide and coordinate ministries, sectors, and localities on speeding up digital transformation for practical and sustainable results, prioritizing resources to reach important goals in national programs and strategies on digital government, digital economy, and digital society.

Regarding digital economy, the committee will strive to reach the target of increasing the proportion of added value from the digital economy in GDP to over 16 per cent and having e-commerce account for 8.5 per cent of total retail sales.

Other targets set for the year are over 90 per cent of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to gain access to digital transformation platforms and all businesses and residents to use identified and verified online services.

The committee also aims to digitize 100 per cent of administrative procedure results. Around half of administrative procedures will be carried out online by enterprises and residents.

In relation to digital society, smartphone users will reach 80 per cent of the total and more than 85 per cent of households will have broadband internet.
