Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed five strategic connections to contribute to BRICS countries’ efforts for a better world while addressing the expanded BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, on October 24, the Vietnam News Agency has reported.
The bloc should take the lead in mobilizing resources for combatting climate change, for advancing the development of green economy, digital economy, circular economy, and for ensuring food security, energy security and information security, PM Chinh said.
He suggested BRICS countries boost strategic infrastructure connectivity, both hard and soft
The Vietnamese Government leader proposed the bloc to make global supply chains connected on the basis of application of modern technologies and innovations in order to create new driving forces and expand development space for all countries.
He also called for strengthening people-to-people exchanges through cooperation in culture, education and tourism between BRICS members and other countries to build a cultural space of "unity in diversity", in which unique values are respected and the beauty of friendship and cooperation is cultivated and nurtured.
PM Chinh called for reforming global governance mechanisms in a fair, effective, inclusive and comprehensive manner for fast and sustainable development. He urged BRICS countries to act stronger against political protectionism and politicization of economic, trade, scientific and technological and innovation relations.
Sharing Vietnam’s experience, PM Chinh affirmed Vietnam's consistent pursuance of its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, diversification and multilateralization of external relations, being a trusted partner, an active and responsible member of the international community.
He reiterated Vietnam’s "four nos" defense policy: no partaking in military alliances, no siding with one country to act against another, no foreign military bases in the Vietnamese territory or using Vietnam as leverage to counteract other countries, and no using force or threatening to use force in international relations.
He affirmed that Vietnam stands ready to work with BRICS countries and the international community to realize the idea of working together to build a better world for all.
