Chairman of the northern Quang Ninh city People’s Committee, Mr. Bui Van Khang, chaired a meeting on September 16 to review pre-feasibility study reports for several major projects, including a road linking the Hai Phong–Ha Long Expressway with the Hanoi Capital Region's projected Ring Road 5, a central boulevard and two general hospitals.
The proposed road connecting the Hai Phong–Ha Long Expressway with the projected Ring Road 5 would have a total length of approximately 54.5 km and estimated investment of VND22 trillion ($836 million).
The route is designed as a six-lane expressway with a maximum speed of 120 km/h. The section running through Quang Ninh City is planned to run alongside the Riverside Road.
Regarding the expressway project, Chairman Khang instructed the Area I Construction Investment Project Management Board and the consulting unit to incorporate and consolidate comments into the pre-feasibility study report.
The report must clearly assess the project’s role in both interregional and intra-regional connectivity, as well as its potential to expand development space and attract investment. It must also identify specific sources and estimated reserves of construction materials needed for the project.
Localities along the planned route have been asked to urgently study and prepare investment proposals for transport projects connecting to the planned expressway.
The proposed link is expected to strengthen connectivity between Quang Ninh and neighbouring areas while supporting the expansion of urban and economic development along the corridor.
