Authorities in Quang Ninh province, northern Vietnam, have set a target to complete site clearance for the section of the projected Hanoi–Quang Ninh high-speed railway that passes through the province by September 30, 2026.
At a meeting on April 21, chaired by provincial People’s Committee Chairman Bui Van Khang, officials reviewed progress and outlined measures to accelerate land clearance for the project.
The projected railway will span 120.2 km, designed as a double-track, standard-gauge (1,435 mm), electrified line with a maximum speed of 350 km/h. Nearly 40 km will run through Quang Ninh, crossing several localities including Mao Khe, Hoang Que, Yen Tu, Uong Bi, Dong Mai, Ha An and Tuan Chau.
To facilitate construction, the province plans to acquire about 273 hectares of land at an estimated cost of more than VND2.76 trillion ($104 million). A dedicated task force, led by the provincial chairman and involving key departments, has been established to oversee implementation, assign responsibilities, and coordinate closely with local authorities.
Local administrations have launched intensive campaigns, strengthened public communication, and mobilized the political system to build consensus among residents.
Mr. Khang stressed that the railway is a strategic infrastructure project vital to national and regional development, requiring swift, decisive, and coordinated action to meet deadlines.
