Authorities of Quang Tri province in central Vietnam have proposed the Government allocate more than VND8.8 trillion ($332 million) from the central State budget to develop the Cam Lo–Lao Bao Expressway, which has a total estimated cost of over VND14.5 trillion ($547 million).
The project is planned under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, with the State budget covering about 68% of the investment, while the remainder will be mobilized by the investor.
The 56-km expressway will start at the Cam Lo–La Son Expressway in the former distict of Trieu Phong and end at the Lao Bao international border gate in the former district of Huong Hoa. It will have four lanes, allowing a maximum speed of 100 kph.
Construction is scheduled for 2024–2027.
Once completed, the expressway will form a vital transport link connecting Vietnam with Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, and other regional countries, enhancing trade, logistics, and regional connectivity.
