Vietnam’s trade and services sector maintained solid growth momentum in April, with total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue estimated at VND646.3 trillion ($25.4 billion), up 1.7% from the previous month and 12.1% year-on-year, according to the National Statistics Office.
In the first four months of 2026, total retail sales and consumer service revenue reached an estimated over VND2.54 quadrillion ($96.8 billion), up 11.1% year-on-year. Excluding price factors, real growth stood at 6.3%.
Retail sales of goods accounted for 76.1% of the total, reaching more than VND1.93 quadrillion, also up 11.1%. Key segments such as garments, food and foodstuffs, household equipment, and cultural goods all recorded steady gains.
Accommodation, food and tourism services saw a strong rebound in April, supported by holiday demand and rising domestic and international visitor numbers. Revenue from accommodation and catering services rose 13.4% in the four-month period, while travel services increased 12.1%.
Experts said the broad-based expansion across retail and services signals a continued recovery in consumer demand.
