A seminar titled “Connecting the Vietnam Innovation and Experts Network in Silicon Valley to Advance Strategic Technology Development” was organized in California, the United States, on March 14 by the Vietnam National Innovation Center (NIC) in coordination with the Consulate General of Vietnam in San Francisco, the United States.

The event attracted more than 90 Vietnamese experts, scientists, entrepreneurs, and engineers working at leading universities, research institutes, and technology corporations in the United States.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Vo Xuan Hoai, Deputy Director of the NIC, emphasized that connecting and leveraging the network of Vietnamese experts, intellectuals, and entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley plays a particularly important role in advancing Vietnam’s science, technology, and innovation development.

Mr. Hoai also stressed that effectively mobilizing the knowledge resources of the overseas Vietnamese community is a key factor in strengthening Vietnam’s endogenous technological capacity and promoting the development of the country’s strategic technology sectors.

During the seminar, experts shared experiences and proposed various cooperation models between Vietnam and the United States in strategic technology fields such as artificial intelligence and digital twins, semiconductor chips, cloud computing, big data, quantum technology, blockchain, 5G/6G networks, robotics and automation, biomedical technology, energy and new materials, cybersecurity, aerospace technology, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Dr. Le Viet Quoc, a leading AI expert at Google, noted that artificial intelligence is opening up opportunities for Vietnam to address many critical development challenges and achieve breakthroughs in strategic technology industries. He also pledged to help connect and bring around 100 top global technology experts of Vietnamese origin to contribute to Vietnam’s innovation ecosystem.

Meanwhile, Mr. Le Duc Trung, Deputy Consul General of Vietnam in San Francisco, affirmed that the Consulate General will continue to support initiatives that strengthen cooperation in science, technology, innovation, and high-tech investment between Vietnam and the United States. These efforts are expected to promote substantive collaboration within the framework of the Vietnam–US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, particularly in emerging technology sectors.

Discussions also focused on strengthening connections between the Vietnam–US innovation ecosystems, promoting the commercialization of research outcomes, developing high-quality technology human resources, and establishing practical cooperation projects among businesses, universities, and research organizations in both countries.

In addition, as part of GBIC, the Vietnamese delegation also held working sessions with leading technology companies and research centers in Silicon Valley, including NVIDIA, Meta, OpenAI, Marvell Technology, and Stanford University. These meetings are expected to open up new opportunities for cooperation in research, training, and technology development in areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, cloud computing, big data, quantum technology, robotics, and UAVs.
