Remittances up five-fold in last decade

Over the past ten years, Vietnam’s labor export markets have grown from nine in 2013 to 25 now, with more than a million Vietnamese workers and experts heading overseas. Remittances sent home have increased five-fold, averaging $10 billion a year.

Disbursement of housing rental support rising rapidly

According to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the disbursement of housing rental support for workers is rising rapidly in most cities and provinces, reaching nearly 52 per cent of applications in total. Seventeen localities have disbursed support for all applications. In Hanoi, 320,000 workers have received support, or 100.5 per cent of the number expected.

Figures show that as of August 25, local social insurance agencies had provided support from the Unemployment Insurance Fund to more than 339,000 employees totaling more than VND963 billion ($40 million).
