The Prime Minister has issued Decision No. 1538/QD-TTg approving the general planning for Thu Duc City in Ho Chi Minh City to 2040.
It is to become a center of knowledge, science and technology, and finance in the southern city and in Vietnam.
Development will be according to an innovative and highly-interactive urban model, making it a socioeconomic center, a nucleus in innovation and the development of digital infrastructure in Ho Chi Minh City and the region, and a focal point connecting existing key urban areas and functional areas in the east of the southern city.
The Prime Minister also directed that the city’s transport network as well as information and communications technology systems be developed in order to enhance connectivity and interaction between functional areas.
The Decision also emphasizes renovating and upgrading technical and social infrastructure in association with improving existing residential areas to meet demand and be consistent with developed areas.
He also noted that it is necessary to boost the development of knowledge-based economic infrastructure and to form a creative ecosystem connected to production, service, and cultural activities in Ho Chi Minh City as well as the national and international economy.
On that basis, the objectives and list of key projects in each stage will be identified so that authorities can adopt suitable mechanisms, policies, and management plans.
