A delegation from the US Embassy, led by Ambassador Marc E. Knapper, visited the northern port city of Hai Phong on March 1 to seek or expand cooperative opportunities.

Ambassador Knapper said the delegation’s visit aims to gain a deeper insight into the city and seek cooperative opportunities.

He said he hoped to explore Hai Phong’s measures to climb to second position among Vietnamese localities in the provincial competitiveness index, in order to introduce the city’s attractions to US investors.

The US and Vietnam are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their comprehensive partnership this year, which he said will be a chance for them to develop ties to a strategic partnership and strengthen relations with localities such as Hai Phong.

Standing Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People’s Committee Le Anh Quan said the city will create optimal conditions for US investors to explore its investment environment and seek partnerships with local companies.

As of March 1, Hai Phong had 15 FDI projects invested in by US businesses with total capital of nearly $260 million.
