Flights from Narita Airport in Tokyo, Japan, to central Da Nang city resumed on March 26 after a long period of suspension due to Covid-19, bringing nearly 180 passengers to the city.
The flight was conducted by national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines.
In the initial phase, from March 26 to June 30, the Narita - Da Nang route will see four flights a week, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
From July 1 onwards, Vietnam Airlines plans to operate daily flights with a frequency of seven flights a week.
Since Vietnam reopened to international tourism in March last year, Da Nang has welcomed about 27,000 Japanese visitors, according to the city’s Department of Tourism.
Deputy Director of the Department Nguyen Xuan Binh said the resumption of the regular flights between Narita and Da Nang is expected to make a positive contribution to attracting Japanese tourists back to Da Nang and other destinations in the central region, and vice-versa.
