The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has instructed relevant agencies to study and develop a comprehensive bus network connecting the Long Thanh International Airport in southern Dong Nai city, which is still under construction, with surrounding localities and key transport hubs, including Ho Chi Minh City.
The study will cover intra-city and inter-city services, as well as a dedicated route linking Long Thanh International Airport with Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.
Under the plan, Long Thanh Airport will coordinate with aviation authorities and other stakeholders to determine suitable locations for bus terminals and route endpoints within the airport complex. The airport operator has also been tasked with designing passenger pick-up and drop-off areas at the terminal building, public forecourts, parking facilities and other functional zones.
Authorities emphasized that bus stops and transfer points must be convenient, safe and easily accessible while minimizing traffic conflicts and aligning with the airport's overall transport plan.
The study will also assess the capacity of existing infrastructure to accommodate proposed routes and future expansion needs. In line with Vietnam's green transition goals, planners have been asked to consider the deployment of electric buses and other sustainable transport solutions as part of the airport's long-term development strategy.
